Synod Inn is a small village on the mighty A487 coast road, which fills with processions of slow moving lorries from dawn to dusk. There's a handy petrol station here, tucked just off the main drag. By contrast, the A475 is the main road from Carmarthen via Newcastle Emlyn to Lampeter and beyond. This route is a fun way to join the two points together, ending on the A475 junction at a pub called 'The Alltyrodyn Arms', which serves food (and soft drinks, obviously)...
Watch for a few short sections where the road narrows to a single, all be it wide, lane in the middle of the route, since this can make oncoming vehicles uncomfortably exciting in corners if you haven't positioned or slowed down appropriately, but the surface is good and the traffic very light...
