If you like ´twists, bends, drops & rises´ you´ll love this route. The A894 is a typical Highlands A road, undulating, long bends, long straights and changing road conditions. The B869 is a different beast. Single track road with passing places. The road surface is great for the most part, having been relayed not long ago. The route has some very tight bends and drops. You can see on-coming traffic in most places but they do tend to pop up when your not expecting it, so stay aware. On some of the longer straights, I´m sure that you could (not that I did Officer) get into 3 figures. You might even get some air like me. Watch out for Woolly Road Blocks, they are everywhere. The whole route is sparsely populated, so not much call for Plod but you never know. I found that I enjoyed riding anti-clockwise more. Make sure you have enough fuel to complete and get to next station, as there are no filling stations on the loop. We rode the nc500 and found this route, during the Tropical Storm Helene in Sept 2018. It didn´t stop us enjoying the route and has given me more confidence when riding in the rain. We stayed just north of Inverness on our final night, woke up and rode 1.5hrs back up to do this route clockwise because we enjoyed it that much. We´ve book for 2019 already, so might see you there. Stay safe.
