I would like to add a couple comments to this loop. The link between Garnet Mine Road and Naamans Creek Road (491) to 202 is open so ignore the part of the loop that diverts from that. A great extension to the loop I call it \"Going Full Amish\". When you get to the Whip Tavern (check your GPS) there are a number of ways to simply head west on some very rural farm roads through the Amish country (Saturday is better for this run if you want to see the Amish)try Doe Station Road to Boot Jack/Gumtree to E Friendship Church just keep picking your way west north of Route 1. Eventually you will hit Rt 222 near Quarryville. Head south on 222 until you get to Rt 1 (you can get gas here BTW), take Rt 1 toward the Conawingo Dam, just before the dam (really sharp turn before the dam)pick up 222 south again toward Port Deposit MD. Stop at the Union Hotel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Edodk5y9QPw&noredirect=1 and then continue south to Port Deposit (very cool old town)and follow signs for I95. Head north and home. This route extension will add at least 2 -3 hours depending on how fast you are going. I do this route in reverse usually. But either way great full day ride!!!

We did this route last weekend and I am here to tell you that we had a great time. This ride was perfect for us. Just the right length because we had to drive from NJ to begin the ride.
The initial part of the ride can be a little disappointing because you are on route 322 (a very busy road) but that isn’t for long and the rest of the ride was great. It had a good number of tight turns and some small hills to make the ride interesting. Just like the author said, there is a covered bridge which makes it that much better. We actually added to the ride by going to the local Harley Davidson dealership which was right up the road.
I totally enjoyed the ride and plan on doing it again and often. I recommend it highly.

This loop is fairly short, but goes through the heart of historical Chadds Ford - Chester County. The area has some incredible history and scenery. A lot of the route is along narrow twisties along the Brandywine River (Route 100). You will pass the Brandwine Battlefield, Longwood Gardens, historic Unionvile, even a covered bridge over the river. The homes date back to the 1700's and you can grab lunch at the Whip Tavern off route 841. There are a ton of other roads in the area to check out on future runs, but this one will get you some really awesome corners and great scenery. Highly recommend. Note: There is some construction on the road linking Garnet Valley Road to 202.
